    We use boats from our fleet for this experience. We welcome any level of experience and age. You can participate in sailing process as much or as little as you want. The experienced captain will always be there to keep you and the rest of the crew and passengers safe.

  • What is the weather like in Barbados?
    Barbados generally experiences warm and sunny weather throughout the year, with average temperatures ranging from 75°F to 85°F (24°C to 29°C). From December to May, the island experiences the dry season, characterized by lower humidity and very little rainfall. The water temperature in Barbados ranges from 78°F to 84°F (26°C to 29°C) throughout the year, making it ideal for sailing and water activities. With consistent easterly trade winds, Barbados offers reliable conditions for sailing and water sports, making it an ideal destination for enthusiasts looking to enjoy the sea.   • What if I do not have ASA 101 or any sailing experience? Can I still take liveaboard course for cruising monohull or catamaran?
    Yes! We offer ASA 101 just before our liveaboard courses start. We can also schedule private ASA 101 course just before your liveaboard class. You should prepare yourself by studying at home with recommended textbooks for each certification before you arrive. This will give you more time on the water!   • What yacht will I be on, and how many other participants will there be?
    We use our own fleet for onshore based courses. All our classes have maximum 4 participants. This allows for abundant wheel time and practice on the water.
  • What is the International Proficiency Certificate, (ASA IPC)?
    The International Proficiency Certificate is a sailor’s proof of bareboat charter competency. A sailing competency certification is required in many countries in order to charter a boat. The American Sailing Association (ASA) was the first organization to offer the IPC in the United States. You can learn more about the IPC here.
  • What Countries Accept the ASA IPC?
    The ASA IPC is accepted by most countries that require a sailing competency certification. This includes countries that don’t accept the ICC (International Certificate of Competency) like Belarus, Croatia, France, Italy, Greece, Poland, Portugal, and Turkey. This means obtaining your International Proficiency Certificate can open up quite a lot of sailing territory in the Mediterranean that you wouldn’t be able to charter otherwise!
  • Can I get certified to sail a catamaran or a monohull?
    Yes, we offer onshore and liveaboard Courses and Certifications. Our onshore certifications can be booked separately or as a package with partner hotels according to your budget and preferences. Onshore courses: Series of onshore courses - 101 (2 days), 103 (3 days) and 104 (3 days) will get you bareboat license to charter monohull 30 - 50 feet Series of onshore courses - 101 (2 days), 103 (3 days) , 104 (3 days) and 114 (3 days) will get you bareboat license to charter sailing catamaran. Liveaboard courses; week-long, 7-day, on-board ASA Certification cruising monohull course (101, 103, 104) week-long, 7-day, on-board ASA certification cruising catamaran course (103, 104, 114). You must complete ASA 101 prior this course. . Passing or failing courses ASA certifications for each level of completion is a two-part assessment of skills and exam. All certifications are authorized by the Captain/ instructor who is instructing the class. Passing scores for the exam is 80/100 and skills is 100/100. You may always ask for more clarification on any skill or knowledge section and retake the assessment at during the class. If you are unable to complete each level of the assessment, you will not be certified for the next level. No refunds will be given for levels not completed, however if the uncompleted assessments are conducted during subsequent classes during a different time they will be granted without fees.
  • Can I bareboat charter after I complete the ASA courses?
    Yes, most of our graduates are ready to bareboat charter a 40 to 50-ft monohull or catamaran.
  • Can I bareboat internationally after I get ASA certified?
    Yes. Most of Charter companies in Americas and Caribbean will accept ASA 104 certification in your ASA Logbook. For chartering in Mediterrean area, the charter companies request International Proficiency Certificate (IPC). After obtaining ASA 104 Bareboat Cruising certification, you can apply for an International Proficiency Certificate (IPC). The IPC will qualify you to bareboat charter in several European countries (Belarus, Croatia, France, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Spain, and Turkey).
  • Force Majeure - How does it work if there were to be a tropical storm or hurricane predicted for our dates? Do we reschedule?
    Neither Party shall be liable for the non-performance, in whole or in part, of its obligations under this Contract if such non-performance or delay in its contractual obligations is due to an event of Force Majeure, such as, but not limited to, governmental decision, law (obligation of maritime assistance), war (whether a state of war is formally declared or not or whether it is a civil war), threat to personal safety (such as hostage taking, kidnapping, assassination, bombing, suicide attack, boarding, acts of piracy), explosion, civil unrest, act of terrorism, uprising, insurrection or coup d’état, sabotage, fire, flood, drought, monsoon, natural disaster, cyclone, particularly tropical cyclone, named meteorological phenomenon, epidemic, quarantine, confinement, disruptions to sources of supply (particularly of energy, raw materials, etc.) or transport, blockage of transport routes (canal, port access, port congestion), strike, lock-out, or any other event beyond its control.The affected Party shall notify the other Party by any available means as soon as possible of the occurrence of an event of Force Majeure.In the event of delay or failure to perform based on an event described above that does not permit charter/training as scheduled:– All charter payments will be credited towards future charters. Wet&Salty Ltd will make proposals to the Client to enable him to book a new charter, at a new location or on new dates, or both, depending on the Client’s availability and preference. Wet&Salty Ltd shall not be liable for any additional costs incurred by the Client as a result of changes to its charter due to a Force Majeure event. We strongly recommend that Client has travel insurance that cover flight, hotel and other travel related changes.
